Aslan

This beautiful yellow lab was done as a Christmas commission. The photo it was painted from was almost sepia. I tried to keep the gray/fogginess to the painting, and really love the outcome.

Dog Commissions

Beckett the Boxer

This young lady was commissioned for a friend of my husbands. She is quite a talented dog, seen here balancing a piece of pepperoni on her nose. The word is she has steely will-power and will balance it there until told "ok" before attempting to flip it into her mouth. I love a pup with personality!

Scotch

I had been on a break from commissions for a few months. Now that my boys are both in school and I am painting every day, I wanted more freedom and less constrictions. However, was contacted by some amazing people with some fun ideas, so went for it. And you know, they've been really enjoyable!!

Golf Cart Companions

This was a commissioned painting done using brush instead of palette knife. I think once I become more comfortable painting people (this might be my third painted person), then I would love to try using the knives. It would definitely require me painting a looser representation, something I know would be fun to work on more.

Lucy the American Bulldog

Lucy is the companion piece to the commissioned dog Bruno. These two dogs were such a joy to paint. I realized how much I have come to love painting dogs while doing these pieces.

Painting a white dog was a bit more challenging for me than doing the brown one. I solved this by using the Paper Canvas app. This helped me to see the different values more easily.

Paws Crossed SOLD

Dogs are so fun to paint because the dog's personality, or what you interpret it to be, seems to come through. We have had plenty of Golden Retrievers, and I've never met one (at any age) that didn't act like a huge, affectionate puppy. The dog here, Remy, seems to be sending a different message with this calm demeanor and sophisticated pose... I'd be curious to meet this dog and wonder if it would be interested in mentoring a few Goldens that I know!

Your Photo Painted SOLD

A week or two ago I posted to my Facebook page looking for photos that friends/fans would like to see painted. A few of the photos that I received were of dogs! I had painted my first dog about a month ago and decided I was interested in giving this another go. The thing that drew me to the photograph that I ultimately selected was the water and all of the colors--I knew this would be a challenge. I am pleased with the way it turned out.

I am told this is the North Umpqua River in Oregon and that it is quite beautiful.
