The Mill

When I want toast and coffee while at home in Wisconsin, I make it. If you want toast and coffee while in San Francisco, you go to The Mill. Delicious breads and coffees--I had some toast with almond butter and a latte; my sister had toast with blackberry jam and a cappuccino. All served on locally made stone dishes. It was a wet morning, but we sat outside and spilled our souls anyway. :)

Hog Island Oysters

This fun little painting was inspired by one of the best meals I've ever had. We went to Hog Island Oyster Co. and had 'em every way I think. Cold oysters are always my favorite, but the cooked ones are prettier to paint.

Happy Holsteins

These cows were found while in California on our drive from Bolinas to the Point Reyes Lighthouse. It was actually an overcast day, but the sky was bright and the hills couldn't have been any greener. Everything about it was just beautiful.

It doesn't escape me that a painter from Wisconsin found cows in California. :)

Sausalito Sailboat

One of my inspirations from Sausalito, California. It was a sunny beautiful day, so we were drawn to the piers. Sat outside right on the water and had some fish and ceviche at Fish, a fun spot and delicious lunch.

Hadn't painted in a week and I had a great time with this.

Scotch

I had been on a break from commissions for a few months. Now that my boys are both in school and I am painting every day, I wanted more freedom and less constrictions. However, was contacted by some amazing people with some fun ideas, so went for it. And you know, they've been really enjoyable!!

Red: Bridge, Wine, & Shins

While visiting my sister, we shopped for a picnic lunch and wine to take to Baker's Beach. I had no idea the view of the Golden Gate Bridge would be this spectacular. There was not one cloud in the sky, and although it was cool enough to be in warm clothes, my shins received a sunburn that lasted for weeks! I just know if we hadn't polished off that bottle of wine I might have noticed! ;)

Yountville

When we start entering the colder months and loosing color outside, my inspiration seems to fade some and I struggle a bit more for painting ideas. Luckily we had an amazing trip to Napa this past summer; my friend and I rode rental bikes 13 miles or so to Yountville for lunch. It was absolutely beautiful there! We biked around part of the town and saw so many picturesque places, including this building surrounded by roses.

Mr. Baker

When I was in San Francisco visiting my sister, we food and wine shopped for a delicious picnic lunch. She took me to Baker's Beach and we had an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and would you believe? A completely cloudless day--blue skies as far as the eye could see.

The most entertaining thing was this sea lion that was frolicking on the beach the entire afternoon. It appeared to be searching for playmates in the dogs. It continuously came onto the beach and then went back out into the water, to the complete enjoyment of the puppies and all of us sunbathers.

Sit a Spell

This painting was also inspired by my trip to San Francisco this summer. My sister has an adorable walk-up apartment in the Castro. There is a staircase out the back and her landlord has the most adorable little garden and little spots to sit. Made me just want to stay and sit a spell.

Golden Transfer

Was lucky enough to visit my sister in San Francisco a few months ago. We had such an amazing time together walking the city, eating delicious foods and drink, and talking. A few days in my husband and our friends were meeting us to grab me and head to Napa. This is the place where we made the transfer. Not bad, eh?

Sausalito

My sister lives in San Francisco and has some of the best photos from California. Perhaps since I used her photo, I should be a good sister and send her the painting? Hmmm...

It has been great fun exploring another medium, and I am proud to say that this is my last painting posted for the 30 in 30 challenge. I don't have 30 posts, but I think I did about 20 paintings this month. That's incredible!
