Garden Chairs

These garden chairs were tucked into a flowering hedge at one of my favorite outdoor gardening shops, Northwind Perennial Farm. It's the kind of place that has been so artfully and tastefully done that you could spend an entire afternoon lingering around. They also have animals, so we try and go with our boys often.

Remington Typewriter

The second in my typewriter series; I hope to do three. My favorite thing about it is the looseness. If I had gotten too lost in all of the detail this wouldn't have been fun at all. Also kept it modern by pumping up the color factor.

Carver's Rock

Found lots of photos from one of our favorite hiking spots, Carver's Rock. Used to hike there with my dad when I was young, and now my husband and I take our boys. Quite beautiful and full of memories, old and new.

Sunbather

Many years ago I was in Playa del Carmen with my husband and some of my family. We came across this woman lounging in the water. She gave two or three poses as I tried to inconspicuously snap a few photos.

She was one of my first paintings and has hung in my home for years. Although I don't often paint people, was inspired to paint another of her poses this week. :)

Guacamole Face

Set up this fun still life with some of the fixings we had for guacamole. Thought it would be a great challenge to have the different greens and the many shadows. Avocado eyes, lime nose, and jalapeƱo mouth--makes my face happy just thinking about it! :)

Food for Thought

This pimiento rojo came to me mid-winter in Wisconsin from Spain. I have a yellow one too; it came from Mexico. Mexico didn't surprise me so much, but Spain? That's across an ocean!

Sarah's Chickadee

Can you believe this chickadee landed on my step-sister's hand like this? With no seed! I would have been as thrilled as she was! Beautiful area too, believe she was at Lake Tahoe, one of my very favorite places.

Snow Angel

Snow angels remind me of the magic of childhood. I will never forget teaching both of my boys how to make them. Each would plop into the fluffy snow and move their arms and legs as strong as they could. I would help them up so not to disturb their creations... The look on their faces when they turned and saw what they made! Pure joy.

White Geese

Found these little beauties at a local farm. Loved the way the light seemed to make their white feathers glow. It always amazes me how many colors one can actually find in white. Such a fun color to paint!

PYT

My husband asked for a fun record player for Christmas. Also purchased this record as a gift to myself. "Pretty young thing, repeat after me, sing na-na-na..."

Buddha Frog

This little guy sits on the hutch in our living room. I put him in the sunshine and he seemed to be absorbing the energy, just as we would do. Doesn't he just make you feel happy and relaxed?

Antique Lamp

This beautiful stained-glass lamp is one of a set that has been with me since I had my very first place some 20 years ago. It also happens to be one of the very first things I ever tried to draw 10 years or so ago. This painting makes me realize just how far I've come with my art during that time!
