Flowers Galore!

Well, I think I've gotten the florals out of my system--for now! There are about six total and all have been added to my brand new website. Check it out if you haven't yet.

I was feeling the round vase on these two and just love the freshness of the arrangements.

Peonies

Happy New Year! I felt like celebrating the end of a tough year painting something I love--flowers. They are painted from the same bouquet of peonies, but two different angles. The brighter is also painted on a black gessoed panel, much looser. Can't decide which I like better, how about you?

Purple & Coral

A friend I taught with asked me to do a commissioned painting for her newly remodeled bathroom. She provided a color palette and wanted flowers in a glass vase. I couldn't pass up another opportunity to paint glass and felt spring with this one! :)

White Peonies & Satsuma

Went to Whole Foods this past week with my sister and mom. The flower bouquets were outstanding, especially the peonies, and thought they'd be perfect for painting. I also came across this delicious looking fruit with leaves. It looked like a clementine, but a bit larger (not to mention sweet, tender, and just as delicious to eat). It was another fruit considered to be a member of the mandarin family called a satsuma. Thought I'd paint them separately, but am so happy that I put them together.

Peonies

There is nothing quite as delicious as the smell of peonies. And it is amazing to have cut peonies in the house. Luckily, these come without ants!

Peonies in the Yard

We have two varieties of peonies which have the most beautiful and fragrant blossoms. Although they are full of ants, I can never resist clipping some to bring in the house. They last quite a while in water and definitely bring the summer in.

Took this photo in our yard and thought it had great light.
