This beautiful yellow lab was done as a Christmas commission. The photo it was painted from was almost sepia. I tried to keep the gray/fogginess to the painting, and really love the outcome.

Grapes on Glass Plate
The last glass painting was definitely looser than this one... However, after painting the grapes I felt the plate needed to be tidier or it would attract more of the attention. SO much fun experimenting with this glass; going to keep at it!

This antique pink glass was catching the light in the most beautiful way. The pattern is multi-faceted, like a prism. Love it!

Beets (3)
Last year I painted two smaller beets paintings from this same photo. It was always my intention to paint them this size and I am thrilled with it! Can't you imagine this hanging in the perfect kitchen?! For now it is wet off the easel and drying where I can see it! :)

Bird Plate
I'm in love with this plate and it had to be (if not the star) the supporting cast in this production. Really wanted to keep it loose, and I think I accomplished that. The sunny colors and freshness make me so happy!

Cocktail, Anyone?
It started with the Moscow Mule and then I was inspired to try painting other drinks. Glass is one of my favorite things, and equally fun to paint. Using transparent colors, I tried to keep them loose.

Clucking Around
Earlier in the fall I went with my son's class to a great farm. There were chickens and goats everywhere, and of course I brought my camera. I've included the photo used to paint this one which was actually quite blurry. I liked the red barn in the background originally, but then decided it would compete too much with the hens.

Dog Commissions
Both of these paintings were commissioned as Christmas gifts. I love having the opportunity to paint dogs. My hope is always that their little personalities shine through.

Measuring Up
Ever have those days when you just need a good challenge? Me too. :) These stainless measuring cups and patterned fabric provided it! One trick was keeping the oranges and blues separate, but also keeping the pattern loose. Also really love the lost edge on the shadow side of the cups. The front of the cups also provided a perfect example of painting what I saw--the reflection.

Little Cutie
"I love to take in the good whenever I eat an orange. I have at least two a day, so I get an opportunity to experience this moment often. As I break through the skin, I gently close my eyes and breathe in the sweet scent. I hold that pleasure in my mind and think about how I am the first person ever to see inside this orange and taste its fruit..." Hardwiring Happiness by Rick Hanson
Was inspired, and I just happened to have a bowl of little cuties. :)

Went and looked at my Paintings file and this is the 19th elephant that I've done! This one was created for the Daily Paintworks "Elephant" challenge and I decided to have some fun with color and also decided to go for a rear view. The photo for this painting was provided by friends Wade and Sheena Hanson who have given me many great photos from their trip to Africa.

Garden Gifts
Both of the items in this painting were gifts! My mom gave the flower bouquet from one of her large hydrangea plants, which look even more beautiful as they've started to dry out. The pumpkins were clipped from our next-door neighbors vine. They recently moved, so it's bittersweet!
This paintings puts me in a TINY bit of an autumn mood, but just a bit!

We only had one tomato plant this year and it didn't do very well. Luckily my mom had many varieties of plants producing and was more than willing to share. Many amazing batches of salsa were made this summer! Is there anything as delicious as summer tomatoes?
